Individual Therapy

My path on becoming a licensed clinical social worker was based on my own life experiences and intuitively knowing I wanted to help those in need. I thought what better place to serve others than a hospital setting and started off as a nursing student. I soon found that was not for me and took a path that led me to earning my master’s in social work. I have worked with children in community mental health, socially economically disadvantage families, adults in a clinic setting, and high-risk adolescents in a school setting. I have been in the field for twelve years, and licensed for the past eight years. 

What should someone know about working with you?

 

I would like you to know that my first goal is identifying whether I have the competencies to support your needs in therapy and most importantly whether you feel comfortable engaging with me. That is why I begin with a consultation to identify client and therapist compatibility. During the initial session we will identify the issues, behaviors, and symptoms that are impacting you, and collaboratively develop a treatment plan to monitor progress. I will use several evidenced based interventions until we find what works best. My personal goal with all clients is that I may provide support in the way that best fits your needs in that moment; whether it be through gaining insight, self-awareness, or learning to set healthy boundaries.
